Aviation Pty Ltd was formed in 2002 by a small group of individuals
whose main goal from the outset was to develop a two place kit
aircraft that was more affordable than the current offerings in
the marketplace.
It all began at Narromine
at the AUF Annual Flyin at Easter time in 2002. Tent conversation
of a night time revolved around aircraft of course, but more specifically
centered on building your own aircraft. Most kit aircraft were
simply too expensive. On the other hand, plans-built aircraft
came with no instructions, no help on where to source materials,
nor what materials should be used.
From discussions that night,
the ideal aircraft seemed to be a roomy two place side-by-side
all-metal low wing that would cruise economically at 100 knots
and have a reasonable payload, whilst still being light enough
to be able to be registered as an ultralight .
Willy Andiel already had the
basis for a design for such an aircraft. Willy had built a number
of aircraft of his own design over the years and was keen to build
his first two place design. Ron and Gary from VW
Engine Centre were keen to see their recently released reduction
drive RG2000 motor used in an aircraft that would really complement
the motor.
A small group of people came
away from Narromine with a desire to set about creating the aircraft
that had been dreamed about that night. In a relatively short
time and many long phone calls and some meetings later,
the design was agreed on, the finances arranged, materials purchased
and the project was underway.
The
Typhoon is now flying. The high lift wing design provides
a short take off roll, great climb performance and a low
stall speed.
So where to from here? We
are committed to continued development of kits and products that
will enable more people to join the growing band of homebuilders.
