There is no doubt the RG TT 2200 EFI engine was to blame for this new aircraft.
Due to customer request for a faster aircraft, more in line with the KR2 S and the Sonex of 160 mph, and yet with the features of design that the Typhoon offered, as in cockpit width, prop clearance, brakes, wheel diameter, then we had to consider this as a serious customer request for a performance aircraft.
The Cyclone really is a stunning aircraft, not only in design looks but also in strength. Once again, Homebuilt Aviation driven by customer request for more speed the Cyclone named by approval from our first customer Tony King and designed by D & C aircraft Principal Doc Hannah, the Cyclone has a similar design speed of 160 mph. Utilising the fuselage of the already developed and tooled Typhoon, the new wing, center section and horizontal stabiliser has created a magnificent looking aircraft as well.
We call it Fighter Styling.

The 2-degree dihedral starts at the centre of the cockpit, tapers from just over 200 mm (8 inches) to 150 mm (6 inches) at the tip giving the aircraft a fighting spirit.
The trailing edge tapers with a straight leading edge looking somewhat like the latest aerobatic type aircraft.
The nose has cowl blisters to hide the fuel rails and injectors on the powerful RG TT 2200 EFI Belt drive engine and with the added touch of the tinted bubble canopy just simply adds to the attraction of this aircraft.
The wings have optional wing tanks 20-35 litre each for greater range.
This aircraft 24-foot wing span slightly heavier than the Typhoon, but with a speed and performance capability in the 544 kg category, hard to match.
We strongly believe the Cyclone will be our most popular aircraft for the following reasons:
- 160 mph speed capability, cruise around the 115 knots if you are in the US and can be fitted with long range fuel tanks.
- Huge torque developed by the RG TT 2200 EFI engine spinning prop diameters from 60-66 inch composite or wood and up to 70 inch pitch.
- Cruise at low engine rpm from 3,000 to 3,500, which is well within the original VW/Porsche cruising revs of a type 4 engine.
The Cyclone is power, performance and price under $55,000.00 aud.
Avalable without engine with non tapered wing 28 ft wing span with calcs calculating stall speed at 42 knots. This wing form is calculated at a 600 kg total weight aircraft as it appears immanent that the 544kg TW will become 600kg TW as this will conform to LSA aircraft. Although not official from CASA at this point Jan 2010 by the time aircraft is built we are confident the aircraft will comply.
Basic kit could start as low as $35 000 AUD inc GST Ex brandale
